Ho hum

Weekends like this one, when N is working, really drag for us. Our playmates are spending time with their families and all regular social activities are usually on hiatus for Saturday and Sunday. And forget about going to the zoo, beach or other tourist destination on a summer weekend without a second parent to help navigate the overwhelming crowds!

L and I both came down with mild colds this weekend -- everything took twice as much effort because we're running on half the energy. And I keep thinking that all of the really good rental properties are getting snatched up over the weekends.

The bright spot? N had last Friday off and we spent the day being lazy, scouring the classifieds and then took the kids out for Indian food at a really fancy restaurant in the city that had chandeliers and a waterfall.

And Monday brings us another day off. We'll probably go to the zoo or something. It stinks to treat the weekend like any other day of the week, but there's something really special about getting days off together during the week. We'll resist the urge to stick out our tongues in "neener-neener" fashion as we pass throngs of worker bees on the freeway tomorrow en route to fun and frolic. That isn't very nice.
