First, a sewing project:
This is the result of my tackling the Sew Liberated Mei Tai pattern adapted by the crafter of one of my favorite blogs. I finished it in about four hours (spread over three oft-interrupted sessions) and it was a pleasure to construct. What that means for an amateur seamstress, such as me, is that I never once swore at the sewing machine, nor did I ever have to rip a seam after realizing I had misread the directions. Meg succeeded in making the instructions completely intuitive, even for a novice. I can't wait to snuggle a baby in there, ahem, outside the womb.
Second, an indulgence for a baby who already has almost everything he or she will need on account of having a ready-made sibling of each gender:
Our swaddling blankets are seeing some wear-and-tear heading into round three. We've used them as baby burrito wrappers, changing mats, nursing cover-ups and we've even rolled them into make-shift head supports for inside the car seat.
Where did I find these? Cousin J, who often broadens my scope of understanding on many child-rearing topics, also offers occasional tips on great natural baby products. She hooked me up with this great site where there's a new green baby bargain each day. I signed up for daily e-mail alerts so I won't miss any other fantastic deals on stuff Tiny Baby may or may not need.

Wow, you really *have* been doing a lot of sewing lately! Your baby carrier looks great, and(surprise!) I love the fabric. Oh, and thanks for the great links. I've been reading Sew Liberated all night. You guys are making me wish I could sew!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute, what are great seamstress you are. I wish i could sew!!!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and fabrics you used. I would have chosen them for myself should I have the need to whip something up, maybe an apron.
ReplyDeleteAre the new swaddling blankets longer in size than the usual so you can really wrap that little babe up without him/her kicking and wriggling out of it?
such fun!!
ReplyDeleteYes, Nana, Cousin J recommended these blankets for their size and adaptability. They're stretchy and gauzy. Apparently they "waffle" when you wash them for added cush and stretch.
ReplyDeleteAgain, beautiful MT! We're loving our (same) Bambino Land blankets over here.

Lots of it is not so great, but occasionally they offer Robeez and other usable items :)
