Easy Living Part V

This is not to say we're done with easy summer living around here, but this is the last in my series of photo-heavy catch-up posts about early summer events.

Late last month, L and I took a long girls' weekend trip to the northwest for dear friend K's wedding and a short visit with my family.

Mom met us in Seattle for a few days of wedding stuff and just being tourists. Having lived there for years, this was a rare chance for us to just see the sights.

We bought raspberries and strawberries from vendors at Pike's Place Market and watched men in rubber pants toss big silvery fish.

We ate alder-planked salmon and sipped rich coffee. We visited with my good friend S and cooed over her new baby boy. We shared breakfast and a walk in the park with L's best pal N and mama K after catching up on life after our shared time in north Florida over a hardy breakfast of pancakes and sausage.

We celebrated the beautiful wedding of K and J under blue skies and against the backdrop of several prime Seattle-area spots including a winery, ethereal university chapel and a yacht club on Lake Union. We grooved to Japanese drums and superbly mixed dance music. The food was awesome.

We spent father's day back home with dad, my sis-in-law and nephews. We also got to celebrate nephew A's 4th birthday with lime cupcakes and flying a new kite and whacking golf balls in the lush, green backyard.

This all in a long weekend.

And our boys? They stayed home and did all sorts of boys stuff while we were away--went swimming, watched copious amounts of golf and made homemade donuts. They forged a new level of father-son bonding while L and I got in some solid girl time. We all were glad to reunite upon our return home.
