In with the new

On our trip home from visiting my parents last year, American Airlines lost one of our suitcases. It wasn't such a big deal. The bag was so old we jokingly referred to it as the "Titanic bag." It was filled with mostly Christmas gifts we had received on the trip and since we hadn't really been used to having them, it wasn't too painful to lose them.

But I did feel a huge pang of sadness when I realized our four stockings -- the ones I had personally crafted over the years as we gained each family member -- were gone with the suitcase.

So this year, I started over completely. I found some great vintage-inspired fabrics on this favorite site (my favorite is the one with the bubbling Christmas lights) and zipped up these new socks (pictured on top) in just over an hour.

I still miss the old ones, but I'm starting to adore the new.

  1. Those are really nice stockings. Which one did L pick? Did you get some bubble lights for the tree?

  2. As someone who's been on a long quest for a good stocking, I can honestly say I love these. Really, they're fantastic! Have you always been so handy with a sewing machine?
