1. I've been working through the Abiding Fruit Bible study this month and I've really appreciated the accessibility of it. It's an in-depth focus on one passage per week, which is great for my catch-as-catch-can scripture study schedule.
2. This almost never happens, except that this week it did. Nick called and asked if we could entertain a same-day dinner guest and I actually happened to be standing in a clean house, with a nice dinner already in the oven.
We ate the Pioneer Woman's Perfect Pot Roast, and it was good.
3. Banana bread and vegetable sushi, of course. What do your kids make when it's their night to choose what's for dinner?
4. Hey, homeschoolers! Did you know Scholastic lets you purchase books through its book club even without a school? You have to call and request a catalog by mail for your first order. Then you can place subsequent orders online.
5. This is happening.
(groan)
6. I've never been one for, ahem, potty literature, but this book by Alona Frankel is doing wonders for getting us started on the Potty Train. Henry adores the anatomically correct illustrations and the excitement surrounding toilet success.
7. The big kids started playing the tin whistle this week.
I'm pretty sure it's the cheapest and easiest way to introduce a musical instrument to a child.
What's great is that Calvin and Liliana both are really getting the hang of it and they like it.
What's not so great? My kids are playing a musical instrument in my house now. In a word, shrill.

Happy weekending, all!

I just LOVE that you've squeezed in time to share with us all these glimpses into your family's life this week. Oh, isn't it my privilege and duty as Nana to contribute to your home's cacophany with a few more thoughfully chosen holiday instruments?
ReplyDeleteDid you make Pioneer woman's banana bread again? We made it; Bella ate most of it since I didn't like the dense texture; she gained 4 pounds!
ReplyDeleteClean house, happy kids and a nutritious dinner in the oven - amazing.
ReplyDeleteVeggie sushi would not be my kids dinner of choice! Good job mom!
ReplyDeleteOoohh, your sushi sounds great! But I feel for your ears...
ReplyDeleteYou do know that Once Upon A Potty has an accompanying video. Well my children watched the video. I am sure it is now on Blu Ray and in 3D. Thanks to your blog I now have the annoying little jingle that goes with the potty video back in my head!
