You all are great!

Awe, I'm so touched by your response to my plea for attention. I don't know what to say, except, thank you!

Honestly, I was surprised by just how many of you check in with Sugar and Snails each day.

Some of you I'm just meeting for the first time, which is wonderful, too. I'm so glad you all are here and I hope we have a long, happy life together.

Now then. Back to business.

I took the kids on a field trip today.

It's the end of our third full week of school and I thought we needed a little break, so we got up early, sped through our book work before 9:30 and headed out.

We took a water taxi across the Potomac to visit National Harbor. It was beautiful there.

The Gaylord Hotel had a magnificent atrium and the shore itself impressed us with "The Awakening" sculpture and a cupcake shop that we all just could not avoid.

Being a tourist in our own hometown is pretty great. Here are some photos of our day. I hope you enjoy your weekend!

P.S. Thanks again, for the talk we had. I sure feel better. Do you?

  1. I love the sculpture and your fierce little warrior attacking the thumb. I also always appreciate that you include the blue links within your posts. Glad you had a field trip. Looks like nice weather.

  2. hello friend. DC seems absolutely overwelming to me....to ever live there. I've gotten mighty use to Texas. Keep the pics and sightseeing coming, perhaps you'll warm my heart to it!

    and......of course, I'm reading!

  3. Thanks, J! DC was (and still is) wholly overwhelming to me. That's why we live just outside ... in the 'burbs and we venture into the metropolis only when I feel fully OK with the idea.

God worked on me for a full year to get me to be sort-of-OK-but-not-really-sure about the move. But here we are and He is faithful. The kids are thriving and I think the work is satisfying for Nick. We'll see what the future holds...

  4. My office had our orientation at National Harbor. However, I missed that fantastic sculpture--what a fun jungle gym!

  5. When my children we little, we had a friend who lived in DC and we would stay with her and visit all the wonderful sights. DC is amazing and there is so much to offer children and adults alike in the way of educational experiences. It makes me happy to see you and your children exploring.

That picture of Lili in the swirly shrubs? Looks like it came straight out of a magazine. So pretty!
