Deep thoughts from Calvin

On vocation ...

"Mama, when I grow up I want to be a nacho man -- a real nacho man."

"Oh? What does a nacho man do?"

"I don't really know. I guess eat nachos all the time."

On growing up ...

"Henry will be 2 this December. Then we can teach him how to potty train and to not knock over our toys -- because he's 2."

On caring for creatures, great and small ...

(He turned over a flower pot and made a little house out of the dirt clod that fell out.)

"Look, Mama! The ants are going in there. They love it! It's good I made a house for the ants, because not much people think about homes for them."

On nature ...

"I see redness under that feather. I think a turkey vulture ate a bald eagle."

On Star Wars ...

"Lili and I can't figure out if Yoda is an alien or a gargoyle, because some gargoyles don't have wings."

On theology ...

"Calvin, has anyone ever given something to you?"

"Yes."

"What was it?"

"Love."

"Who gave it to you?"

"God."

  1. Tell him this is why I call him "cookie". He is so precious I could just eat him up.

  6. If that's what a nacho man does all the time, I think I'd like to be a nacho woman... you know, when my kids are all grown and out of the house :)

(Also, it is so crazy to see pictures of you guys visiting places that I live near and have been to as well since moving here. You are HERE! Ahhh! We need to get together, yes?! :)

And I totally want to be a nacho man when I grow up. I could pull it off quite successfully...

  10. I can't wait to meet this kid. He always has me cracking up. The turkey vulture was my favorite! I wonder what funny little things K will say when the time comes.
