On an afternoon of sewing ...
One determined little seamstress had an idea. She wanted to make a treat bag for Halloween goodies. We dug through Mama's fabric bag and found scraps of felt and fleece in just the right colors.
Little girl traced two rectangles with tailor's chalk. She carefully cut along the edges and helped pin the two pieces together.
On Mama's lap at the sewing machine, she gingerly guided the rectangle's edges under the presser foot to make a seam. Mama turned the fabrics right-sides out and stitched on some handles. Voila! Treat bag.
There was a small misunderstanding between project manager and head seamstress about the design for the bag's exterior. Being the creative inspiration behind the project, L said: "Wait! I have an idea. I'll make a drawing for you."
She ran for paper and pencil, then returned shortly with a sketch of her treat bag adorned with a lovable ghost. At last, I understood her vision and we snipped and glued and came up with this together.
Then I tackled C's Halloween costume. With help, of course.
Can you tell what he's going to be? I'll give you a hint: It's very fierce.

Adorable! You guys are so creative :) She looks pretty pleased with that cute bag - and who wouldn't be?!
ReplyDeleteI dream about knowing how to sew.
ReplyDeleteThe treat bag looks great, but the look of happiness and pride on L's face looks even better.
ReplyDeleteAs for little C: I'm glad I'm not going to be anywhere near those sharp, sharp teeth this Halloween! His costume looks very fierce indeed!
Oh, I'm so delighted it was sewing stitches you were talking about. Precious face on L! And is C being a Wild Thing????
