Crossing the south

Another good day of driving after N's completion of school in Pensacola. We hit the road at about 1:30 and made our way through parts of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. Our hotel in Baton Rouge is awesome, complete with koi pond and waterfall plus glass elevators. The kiddos are in heaven here after about six hours in the car today. We're still amazed by the patience of our little girl and boy. We ate a veritable feast at a Greek/Lebanese restaurant, showered and now it's time to turn in. We hope to make it to the Alamo by tomorrow evening.

More trip notes:
Thankful for ... baby carrots, goldfish crackers, tot-sized organic apples and the Mobile, Ala. billboard that heralded the upcoming Boys II Men concert. Oh, yes, they're still around. Gas for $2.85 in Mississippi.

Could do without ... "Pooh and Friends" on tape read by Carol Channing, the cold we're all passing around, having to smuggle cats into fancy-pants hotels. Gas for $3.05 in Louisiana.

The picture, by the way, is what I watch all day while we drive. It's the back of the U-Haul attached to N's truck.

  1. Thanks, D, for the updates. We really enjoy being part of your adventure. I like your format of "thankful for..." and "Could do without..."f. I'm keeping on keeping on praying for a smooth trip, happy kiddos, stress-free parents full of anticipation of a new adventure living in Southern California. My love to you all.
