Quick takes

1.We met with our homeschool enhancement group this week, and guess what! The people seem normal, well-adjusted and all-together pretty great.

No moms in denim jumpers with babies tethered to front, back and both sides.

No kids with their noses planted in "War and Peace."

I think we're going to fit in. I think we might even like it. I think we might make friends.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I know plenty of wonderfully well-adjusted homeschool families, but for some reason when we moved here I thought we were all alone in this endeavor.

I'm relieved to know there are some other folks around here attempting the same educational path and they don't seem all that different from us. Whew!

2. We're still searching for a church home.

3. The antenna situation isn't working out. We're getting cable.

4. I ordered what I thought was going to be the backbone of our homeschool curriculum a few weeks ago. It arrived. I didn't like it. I sent it back and ordered something else I'm much more excited about and now I'm waiting for that batch to come -- praying it will be a good fit for us.

5. School starts on Monday.

6. Today we're preparing for a hurricane and I'm making strawberry jam.

7. We were offered a beautiful four-bedroom house on the air base yesterday. We're locked in a lease in a house we like. We won't take the house on base. We're staying put.
