Did you hear?

L is 4 now. Radiant. Tall. At times precocious. Barely timid anymore. A dancer. A singer. Loving chapter books and dress-up.

With each passing year in her life, N and I have come to understand more of this amazing little girl:

Why she was born first--so she could put all of those natural nurturing skills to use as a big sister.

Why she was such a serious and sober baby--because she had so much to think about before she was ready to open up and tell the world about it.

Why her legs hurt at night sometimes--her body is working hard all day to grow impossibly tall.

Why she loves books--she's a born story-teller and she needed to learn how to put her thoughts into beautiful phrases.
