L is 3!

What a weekend of celebration we had to recognize L's 3rd year. Much giggling with friends, dirt-cake-eating, running, new-bicycle-riding, squealing and laughing! Even though L has seemed 3 for a few months already, with the passing of her actual birthday she suddenly became even bigger in my eyes.

Though some days I miss her baby-ness, I absolutely love who she is becoming. She's lanky and wavy-haired. Smart and wildly imaginative. Bookish and crafty. Delights in digging in the dirt, capturing bugs and worms and making sure they're back with their "families." She's gaining confidence in the pool and has found new skills in bicycling this week. She is mostly sweet and caring with her baby brother. Loves to sing and dance and is actually pretty great at both despite her genes.

L embodies so much of my grandmothers and my mother, and myself (for better or worse) but she also is uniquely herself. She is someone I truly enjoy talking to and spending my days with and she is to me the most beautiful girl I've ever known. Happy birthday L!

  1. The world's most beautiful little girl has a very nice looking bike! And again I have to tell you, D, that my granddaughter is certainly blessed to have you for her mama.

  2. Lili is so beautiful. She sounds like a wonderful, smart and interesting girl and I hope that she and I become good friends some day. P.S. I love the very retro bicycle.
