Happy Valentines Day!

For sure Feb. 14 is best loved by florists, jewelers and greeting card companies, I know. But no matter how over-blown and commercial, it sure is fun to nibble on sweets and tell your loved ones just how special you think they are. We celebrated the day of abundant affection by cutting dozens of construction-paper hearts and practicing our capital letters on them to dole out to the same friends and family members over, and over, and over. Even the cats got Valentines today. I think every 2 1/2-year-old has a healthy amount of obsessive compulsion, especially when it comes to perfecting the ideal Valentine for multitudes of "best friends" and their pets. We had a playdate to end all playdates (there were six children at our house at one time) plus a delightful mid-afternoon drop-in by L's best pal N. Then we dined on Tex-Mex for dinner and our kiddos crashed for prompt bed-times, falling prey to that sweet exhaustion that comes from good hard playing and coming off a frosting-induced sugar high. Whew! I'm ready for bed, too. Happy hearts day to all!
