We steered clear of all public July 4th celebrations this year. Nick was away and I tend to avoid large crowds, sweltering heat and after-bedtime outings when he's not here to help.
So with Nick home on Saturday the 7th, we decided to take the kids to a fireworks show in our hometown to celebrate the city's birthday.
It was much quieter than the Capital Fourth hoopla on the National Mall, but it did have an orchestra, cannons and a pretty awesome fireworks show.
Because of the heat, the local fire department hooked up a fire hose to a huge fan to make mist for the kids to play in.
There were cupcakes and a free karate demonstration and much dancing and air-guitar-playing to the music.
Here's a little taste of our evening.
looks like such fun!!
ReplyDeleteIt *was* fun, and hot, and a little stressful keeping track of everyone at times, but fun none-the-less. :)
DeleteWhat fun!! I'm glad you were still able to enjoy some festivities, and that there was so much to offers :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for checking in with us, L! It's indeed a great place to be celebrating our patriotism.
