Today we made it through the last of the desert and passed through the high plains of eastern New Mexico, northwest Texas and a little Oklahoma.
We passed some more goofy Route 66 gimmicks including the Cadillac Ranch (the cars stuck nose-down into the ground along the roadside) and this giant cross in Groom, Texas.
Can you guess where we ate lunch in Amarillo?
These kiddos have been awesome travelers. Today alone they logged more than 450 miles with minimal seat-kicking and almost no whining.
We decided to take the southern route -- tomorrow we're shooting for the Mississippi.

Let me know if you stop in Memphis. Safe travels !
ReplyDeleteI'm glad the trip's going well so far! Safe travels!
ReplyDeleteI'm supposing the mac and cheese and the grilled cheese were as delicious as anticipated. We miss you and all the love.
ReplyDeleteHey, K--
ReplyDeleteWe hit east of Memphis late this evening (we actually didn't expect to make it this far today) and will head out early tomorrow morning. Hate to miss a chance to see you, but road trips are unpredictable as you well know. Memphis was beautiful (and hot)!
