Last week we, Nick and I celebrated 10 years of marriage. We had planned on renewing our vows, but with a house-hunting trip and family in town, our attempt at having a special celebration, sort of got lost in the shuffle.
Never-the-less, we managed to squeeze in a sort of second wedding between nap time and a family dinner party. Here's what we did.
We scooped the boys up from their naps and got everybody dressed in a sort of color-coordinated collection of summer best. I Googled "vow renewal" and printed off some words about recommitting and continuing on the journey.
I plucked a few flowers from the anniversary bouquet Nick had given me, grabbed the camera and tripod and we shuttled our little family over to the beach.
Our wedding party included...
Two best men...
A flower girl...
And, of course, the groom...
And the bride.
We held hands, said a few words to each other and sealed it with a kiss.
Then: pandemonium!
Celebrating a second wedding -- one where we have some of that big wide open future and it's many trials and blessings already behind us -- was a great idea. I'm already looking forward to number 20.
Beautiful.
