As journalist I wrote about small town government and organic cheese farms. Now a decade later, I write about these very full days with four young children and our life on the move with the military. Writing is no longer my profession, but it's still my passion.

Fashionista
Clothes are a BIG part of L's everyday. She wants to emulate the characters in the books we read and dress for whatever occasion might be coming up in the day, whether it be hanging out at the beach, going grocery shopping, playing at the park and, of course, there's dancing. She changes at least half-a-dozen times each day (other mothers of preschool-aged girls may hear this resonating) so today I tried to document all of her wardrobe iterations on the camera.
I caught five of the eight ensembles she chose today. I don't know how she has the time or patience to wriggle in and out of leotards, tights, tutus and copious dresses over and over. Then there are the accessories and hairstyles, which often involve my cooperation. Shoes, sunglasses, barrettes, tiaras, hats, necklaces and rings. I clearly can't keep up. I'm exhausted.
(C wanted his picture taken, too, in his one and only outfit for the day, mind you.)

I love it! My 7 year old girl is the same way still. We are lucky if we have only tried on 2 outfits before school, but it is usually more like 4. Imagine when they are teenagers!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it,too. It will be fun when she can sew fun stuff for herself. I wish you were fast enough to catch all of the 8 changes!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea! I'm right there with you!
