C awoke this morning with new determination and confidence. I set him on the floor next to L's bed and moments later he found me in the hallway, looking up from his all-fours position with a proud grin. I then moved to the kitchen to crack eggs in a skillet for breakfast and looked down to discover him inches from my feet, again with a "look-at-me-mama" smile on his sweet, slobbery face. These weren't the scoots and creeps he was doing yesterday to motor around, but full-on hands-and-knees crawling. Just as he woke one morning back in early winter with a new ability to babble, today seems to be a culmination of months of watching and learning.
Babies in our family wait for full strength and confidence before they start moving around. L was days from her first birthday before she put it all together and started to go. And N and I were well-past the one-year mark before we walked as infants. So for C, today marks a monumental accomplishment. I think somewhere in his tiny brain, he knows that, too.

Very cute little C:) I'll bet miss L also will develop some determination after spending today protecting her treasures from his curious grasp...
ReplyDeleteYay! And oops - now nothing's safe anymore LOL
ReplyDeleteIt's funny - Clara was mobile quite early, walked just before a year...Elfie was waaaay later - I think she crawled around 9-10 months, walked at 15ish? And Liam is another earlyish guy. It's so cool to see how different (or same) they all are. I love watching babies grow - mine or not! :) Hurry and move to driving distance, will you? ;)
Isn't it amazing to watch them grow and accomplish such big milestones...I always find it a little bittersweet!!
ReplyDeleteOh my, go Calvin. I wish I had jammies with footsies on them............
