A homecoming

There are a lot of downsides to being on the opposite coast from family. I miss a lot of important family events and milestones.

But sometimes, when the stars align just right, I get to be part of one.

Today, I got to welcome my big brother stateside after a six-month deployment in Afghanistan. Because of our place here on the east coast, HP and I got to have lunch with him at the airport before he boarded a plane westward for his real homecoming.

It was a rare and special treat, wishing him well as he heads home to a reunion that will become one of the finest moments of his whole life, I'm sure.

Today the world doesn't feel so big.
