Sometimes it takes a little incentive to help us work through the things that we know are good for us, but they're hard.
Like our library's summer reading club: 15 books read alone without Mama's help (unless you don't know how to read yet, in which case Mama helps you.)
This was Calvin's first year completing the entire list by himself. It was hard work.

And this was Liliana's first year with my mandate of reading at least five chapter books in the mix. That was time consuming.

So when the kids finished their lists and cashed them in at the library for coupon books filled with discounted fun, we had to celebrate.
A first trip to Krispy Kreme for a complimentary hot doughnut made all of that hard work seem worthwhile. Doughnuts are magic, I tell you.
And they helped make our next stop of shopping for school supplies a little more palatable. Doughnuts have a way of doing that, too.

Wow! Hot Krispy Kreme doughnuts are quite the treat. Great job on reading. Calvin will be doing quite a few project this year with 18 glue sticks???? Love you.
ReplyDeleteOh my Henry cracks me up! Micah and he would be such buds! Micah gets so excited when Matt deems a DD run is in order... Which you can guess that happens once a week easily! Micah yells, "no-nuts! Daddy get no-nuts!" Pretty funny.
ReplyDelete:) This reminds me of our trips to the commissary -- we always have to buy almonds for N, which nearly always necessitates one of the kids shouting down the aisle: Did you get Papa's nuts?!
