Pop

I clicked on some lunchtime music today for Henry and I to listen to and quickly realized my selection of sweet, lilting indie-girl songs was not what Henry had in mind. Here's how he steered the ambiance in an entirely different direction:

"I don't like this music, mama."
"You don't? What kind of music do you like?"
"I like guy tunes."
"Oh, OK."

I searched a little and landed on a pop station, where Bruno Mars was met with approval. So we sat and ate and listened without speaking until a Maroon 5 selection inspired Henry to join the singing:

"Hey, the guy says: 'I got to move my jacket. I got to moo- moo- moove my jacket."

At last, the perfect dance song came on and we could no longer contain ourselves.

"Mama, who is this?"
"This is Neon Trees, Henry."
"I want to dance to this!"

So I helped Henry down from the table and we had an impromptu dance party. I snapped photos.

  3. The pictures are fantastic and you are such a great mom to realize the need for the impromptu dance party. You really heard what was important to him.
