This mobile baby

Our baby is at last, on the move.

The kiddos and I have noticed in recent days that when we set Henry on the floor in one part of the room, he somehow makes it to the other side of the room without our noticing.

He was not crawling, but through a series of hands-and-knees shuffles, on-the-bottom scoots and stretching out on his belly, he was getting from A to B.

Today he officially crawled across the living room floor.

In our family of late bloomers when it comes to mobility, it's clear a little motivation helps. Turns out, older siblings are great at coaxing wary pre-toddlers to go ahead and move. They make great cheerleaders.

Here is statistical proof:

Baby Henry: Crawls at 9 months, 24 days, inching across the carpet to join big brother inside his safari tent.

Baby Calvin: Crawled at 9 months, 14 days, no doubt to get a closer look at what sissy was doing.

Baby Liliana: Just barely got moving by her first birthday at 11 months 18 days. She had no place she needed to be.

  1. Oh, I agree -- older siblings definitely seem to inspire their younger sisters/brothers to move it, move it ;) It's so bittersweet when they become mobile, but so fun at the same time!
