On a hot afternoon a few weeks ago, L and I were looking for air-conditioned fun and I had the shopping bug, so we headed out in search of art supplies and funky fabrics for creative projects. We ended up at a Goodwill store near our house and, oh boy, did we hit the jackpot. We didn't stumble upon any great crafting materials, but we all had a fantastic time handling knickknacks and scouring bookshelves. We made it home with some classic toys to give new life to our playroom stash. I loved sharing with L the value of reusing someone else's gently loved toys. I share this on the blog mostly because we seldom think about second-hand stores when we're heading out to consume goods. We usually go straight to Target, but we found better, cheaper stuff at the Goodwill. Here's what we found:
A barrel of Fiddle Stix (new-school Tinker Toys) $1.99
Magnetic wooden dress-up doll set (we call her Alex) $1.99
Wooden play city garage and car wash for our race cars $1.99
Plaid hippopotamus shortalls for C $.99
Fabulous finds and another reason I love you so much. Thank you for teaching my grand kids values to last a lifetime. Shoot me more pics of the both of those sweet babies. Love to you all.
ReplyDeleteHey D,
ReplyDeleteI have been taking my girlscout troop there for years. They has so much finding clothes to dress up in. Plus, they know they are helping people get jobs. Glad to see L is learning early.
Love,
Nanci
You all hit the jackpot!
